Wing Chun (詠春拳) is a practice inspired by nature; represented by rejuvenating energy of the spring season.
Loosely translated as « Spring Time Praise ».
To understand movement through stillness.
Continuous change so gradual that it is difficult to see with a glimpse, with the hidden philosophy of the continuous commitment to bettering oneself by growth through subtleties.
To simplify the thought, to root down and connect to the Earth.
To become aware of, and cultivate, life force energy. And to refine and pay special attention to the small.
To address the immediate.
To stick with it as it comes and follow through as it leaves
Wing Chun teaches you to live life in an effortless way.
To live and slow down the moment, so as to enjoy longevity.
To rid yourself of all the noise and find clarity of mind.
To identify one’s weaknesses and turn them into strengths.
To use the soft to overcome the hard, uderstanding the power of the small.
And to foster a life in the spirit of genuine care for others and for the Earth, health and wellness, education, ethics, honour, and family.
Wing Chun Kuen is the human practice of the above.
A system that has no prejudice toward age, gender, or strength, just as the the tree was once a seedling.
Wing Chun Kuen, classified as a martial art, has been unfortunately improperly practiced and misunderstood for too many years. Gaining popularity though celebrities as a revered, highly effective, street fighting system and combat skills.
However, originating from the Buddhist culture, it does the system a great injustice to forget it’s provenance. Wing Chun promotes peace, meditation, awareness, compassion and to avoid conflict. We prefer to call it a vehicle of movement for self-awareness. Welcome back to it’s origin.
One where Wing Chun Kuen is a way of life and a holistic system.
